Music | Dial in on Channel Orange

Frank Ocean – Channel Orange

I realized some things recently listening to an album like this – how refreshing music can be and how it can apply to so many different situations in life. Frank Ocean recently came out on his blog saying that he fell in love with a man some years ago, and in all honesty – one of the best songs on his album is about that man. I’ve never been one to judge and my house has has the song “Pyramids” on repeat for over a month now, and it hasn’t gotten old one bit. From his collaboration with Pharrell on “Sweet Life” to the long lost Andre 3K on “Pink Matter” – these songs are as unique as they come. The style of this album is unlike anything I’ve ever heard, its a collaboration of Pink Floyd, Stevie Wonder, Robin Thicke, the 70′s, and so much more all in one. It gets my choice for album of the year for its groundbreaking sound and its potent lyrics. Sometimes there aren’t words for the feeling you get on that first play through and the discovery of a blossoming artist.

If you haven’t given it a listen – check it out on iTunes.

Music | Me and You

Dre Beats Commercial / Nero – You and Me

I’ve been thinking a lot lately,…wheres the color? I think its coming full circle once again, the age of the vivid colors – accented by clean blacks and whites. I don’t want it to get super bright, we all know  ”All black Everything” is still hot right now. I especially like the way they incorporated the song by Nero titled “You and Me” (Original Mix) while going through the full spectrum of colors. Recently, Monster and Beats split after the recent success of Dr. Dre’s line of headphones. I’ve had this song on repeat all week keeping me moving forward.

Stay Blessed

Sports | A Rematch for Superbowl 46

Patriots Vs. Giants

It’s official. This year will be a rematch of Superbowl XLII (42) where previously unknown David Tyree made a catch for the history books. The above image shows him catching the ball off his head which ultimately lead to the Giants winning the Superbowl. After watching the two games today; Patriots vs. Ravens and Giants vs. 49ers – I think the Patriots still have the edge. It should be another great game that will attract plenty of attention. Haven’t heard the full story? Want to know the history behind this rivalry? Stay tuned to @espn via twitter and the rest of the social networks and you’ll surely get a sports overdose that will have you ready for game day February 5, 2012. See you then!!

Sports | Will LeBron have a Flu game?

“The Flu Game”

Game 5 of the 1997 NBA Finals was one of the most memorable of Michael Jordan’s career. Jordan ended that game with 38 points, 7 boards, 5 assists and 3 steals. The title “The Flu Game” not only patented an athlete playing one of the greatest games of all time sick as a dog, but also grew his brand. He sold more shoes than any athlete ever, and his brand still reigns supreme to this day, 15 years later in 2012. Interestingly enough, today is a big day in LeBron James career for the same reason. Yes, its not the NBA finals and it won’t ever hold that much precedence, but this is an opportunity to put LeBron with the greats if he can claim a big win in the shortened season.  It’s funny to me sometimes – because I’ve taken the time to view some of his high school videos. This guy is a phenom and no matter what he did to a franchise that lacked the supporting cast to win a championship, nobody wants to give him any credit. I think tonight with the Lakers coming to town and LeBron having the flu, he can prove that he’s one of the greatest players to ever take the court. I may be over hyping it, but hey – thats what makes sports so amazing.

 The Einstein of our Era 

 Steve Jobs 1955-2011

What a day. I don’t really have a better way to approach October 5, 2011. The passing of the greatest inventor of my generation comes as a complete surprise, even though we all knew how sick he has been. He recently stepped down from CEO of Apple Inc. to become chairmen of the board, basically leaving Tim Cook to further lead and innovate for the greatest company the world has ever seen. I’m proud to say that I’m a part of this movement, the dream that Steve Jobs festered some odd years ago in his garage after dropping out of a prestigious university. California became the birthplace, and continues to produce the greatest products in the world – the one i’m using right now to tweet, listen to music, read articles, and put a new blog post up all at the same time.  I’ve always been taught that when a door closes, a window opens. Let’s just hope that people use this as a positive, an influence to create goals that we dream to meet in hope that one day those dreams can come true.  #RIP
